Generator Rebrands to Precinct Flex

New Name, Same Premium Experience - Generator Becomes Precinct Flex

If you’ve ever worked from a Generator space, you’ll know they’ve long been a standout in New Zealand’s coworking scene, offering stunning spaces, helpful teams, and a real sense of community. Now, they’re stepping into a new era.

Generator has officially rebranded to Precinct Flex.

It’s a big move, and one that signals a new chapter not just for the business, but for the future of flexible workspaces across Aotearoa.

Backed by Precinct Properties, this rebrand brings together everything Generator was known for, and adds even more: greater access to top-tier buildings, seamless workspace solutions, and a stronger connection to the broader commercial world.

Let’s break down what’s changing, what’s staying the same, and why it matters.

Why the Name Change?

The rebrand from Generator to Precinct Flex happened on 4 August, but it’s been in the works for a while.

Generator was founded back in 2011, and Precinct Properties, one of New Zealand’s biggest names in commercial real estate, came on board in 2019. Since then, the two have worked closely together, blending flexible workspaces with larger-scale office developments.

Now, it’s all coming under one name: Precinct Flex.

“Precinct Flex is a natural evolution of our business,” says Scott Pritchard, CEO of Precinct.

“It brings our leadership in the flex space together with our premium commercial offering, giving clients a seamless, full-service solution.”

It’s not just about branding. It’s about recognising that flexibility is here to stay, and that businesses are looking for workspace options that are smarter, more connected, and built for the way we actually work today.

What’s Staying the Same?

If you’re already a Generator member, the good news is the experience you know and love isn’t going anywhere.

You’ll still have:
- Access to beautifully designed workspaces

- Friendly, on-the-ground support teams

- Great coffee, fast Wi-Fi, and helpful tech support

- Community events, networking opportunities, and more

So really, the biggest change is the name on the door. Behind the scenes, it just means even more support, more scale, and a bigger vision for what’s possible.

Introducing Pipiri Lane: A Sneak Peek at What’s Next

As part of this new chapter, Precinct Flex is opening a brand-new location: Pipiri Lane, right in the heart of the Wynyard Quarter Innovation Precinct. And it’s not just any coworking space.

Pipiri Lane is New Zealand’s first co-working and event space built with cross-laminated timber (CLT) — a highly sustainable, modern building material. It also boasts a 6-Star Green Star rating, indicating that it meets world-leading standards for sustainability and design.

This new space includes:
- Large event areas for launches, parties, or panels

- Flexible office options for teams of all sizes

- Beautiful, light-filled interiors

- A prime location in one of Auckland’s most exciting neighbourhoods

The team is already taking bookings for events, and if early interest is anything to go by, Pipiri Lane is going to be a popular spot.

Who’s Using Precinct Flex?

One of the great things about Precinct Flex is the diversity of businesses that call it home.

Across its Auckland and Wellington spaces, Precinct Flex hosts:
- Fortune 500 companies

- Multinational and New Zealand corporates

- Startups, SMEs, creatives, and entrepreneurs

While most members are teams of 4–15 people, there’s room to scale up (or down) depending on what your business needs. From a desk for one to a suite for 100+, it’s all on offer, with flexibility built in.

The spaces also come with event hosting options, high-spec fit-outs, and access to some of the country’s best commercial locations.

Why It Matters

Let’s face it, the way we work has changed. And continues to change.

People want choice. They want comfort. They want to feel connected. And most of all, they want workspaces that make sense for their business right now, not just in five years’ time.

This rebrand to Precinct Flex feels like a natural step forward. It acknowledges that flexible workspaces aren’t a trend, they’re a core part of how we do business in 2025 and beyond.

By combining coworking expertise with large-scale real estate know-how, Precinct Flex is uniquely positioned to support businesses at every stage, whether you’re a startup finding your feet or an enterprise setting up a regional HQ.
