We have some great spaces available at the Zoo for you to host your next event.



The Lion Viewing Shelter

The Lion Viewing Shelter of Auckland Zoo will give your guests an extraordinary view of Pridelands.



A rustic yet versatile space with both covered and uncovered areas, your guests will be able to watch these magnificent animals up close. This venue also includes the outdoor viewing platform for your catering set up.



Theme with lighting and props, or just left as is, dine with the lions and give your guests a night they will talk about for years!



This space is available for use only for evening functions: Evening Hire: 6:00pm - Midnight

African Savannah

Enjoy pre-dinner drinks overlooking our new African Savannah. This venue can be hired in conjunction with the Lion Viewing Shelter to create the perfect atmosphere for a relaxed start to your event. Home to giraffe, zebra, ostrich, meerkats, leopard tortoises and African masked lovebirds, the new African Savannah brings visitors closer than ever to wildlife in an environment that offers a real sense of adventure.



This space can cater for 80 people cocktail style and is the perfect location for a Spring/Summer get together or celebration. Conveniently located close to the zoo's main entrance, the new bird aviary and newly renovated lion viewing shelter.

The Domes 

Constructed by Auckland based company Event Base and their partners Creative Structures in 2017 and most recently home to Te Papa and Weta Workshops blockbuster exhibition Bug Lab, The Domes cover 740m² over five domes (hexadomes and crossover), and include a custom designed entrance tunnel.



The Domes is currently one of Auckland’s most unique spaces to hold an event – with its grand design, immersive feel and zoo soundtrack, this could be the perfect space for you to make your special event unforgettable.



The distinctive smooth round canopy and dome shape adds to the aesthetic appeal of feeling like you are entering into a very special function space creating an exciting feeling of a surprise reveal for your function attendees to add an element of surprise.

Evening Hire: 5.30pm - Midnight

The Cotton Top Tamarin Shelter

Located in the middle of lush plants and surrounded by wildlife, this venue offers a rustic covered space which is perfect for wedding ceremonies, early evening dinner parties or pre-dinner drinks.



This space is available for day and evening functions: Day Hire: 4:00pm - 5:30pm (Wedding Ceremonies only) Evening Hire: 6:00pm - 9:00pm

The Tiger Territory

Come and dine with the tigers! The Tiger Territory is the ideal spot for your breakfast function, intimate dinner or cocktail event and conveniently located in the heart of the Zoo. After breakfast, guests are welcome to roam the Zoo. A great addition to the breakfast event would be to add on a guided tour with our experienced staff.
