Welcome to The Birdcage, an historic Auckland icon and now a stylish, fully-licensed casual restaurant, open for lunch and dinner. The 127-year-old Birdcage has been restored to her former glory, with the interior featuring stained glass windows and original brick walls alongside more modern touches which create a chic, metropolitan vibe.

Outside, the north-facing courtyard bar is one of the largest beer gardens in central Auckland overlooking Victoria Park and the market. Kick back and relax with a selection of interesting wines or beers and delicious bar snacks or a full meal. The food is rustic in style and the menu continues to evolve to reflect what's in season. Every product we use is carefully sourced and the wine list aims to entice you to try something new and interesting.

For an affordable function with no hidden costs, the Birdcage will exceed your expectations with our professional execution and exceptional service. Whether it's for a company function or a social gathering, we can accommodate cocktail parties for up to 300 people or set menu lunches/dinners for up to 80 people. We will organise the planning, menus, drinks, and the even the clean up. Leave the hassle to us!

Free customer parking off Union Street behind the restaurant

We are open 6 days per week, Tuesday - Sunday.
