When BIG is better, The Professionals Recreation Hall is just what you need. 

The Professionals Recreation Hall measures 22m x 45m, and has a sprung wooden floor with a moveable stage. With the option of do-it-yourself afterhours rear access, or in full function mode utilising the ambient Rotary Foyer, the hall's versatile format makes this space one of the best in the country.

The intimacy of the Rotary Foyer is the perfect setting for any event, from cocktail parties and banquets to weddings and formal ceremonies.

The glass and wooden façades and natural river stones evoke the natural environment of the Hutt Valley, with a view to the gardens and courtyard outside. Elegant red tiled walls compliment the timber floors and the galleries.

With a constantly changing programme of traditional and contemporary art, the foyer is a perfect space for your special event and a truly memorable evening for your guests.

The foyer allows up to 150 guests for cocktails or 80 people seated, depending on stage and dance-floor requirements.

The foyer can be hired separately or together with other spaces such as the theatre, hall or café. Hire of all equipment such as linen, cutlery and crockery and bar equipment is managed by the caterer hire or by Expressions staff on request.

One of the special features in the foyer is a Maori carving, Te Manawa, by local carver, Dave Te Hira.

Gibbs Sculpture Court is an indoor/outdoor function area, and the gathering area for entry to The Gillies Group Theatre. It also houses a changing exhibition of contemporary New Zealand Sculpture.
The courtyard can be hired separately or together as part of a theatre event and is perfect for small to medium sized events such as cocktail parties, after work functions, intimate dinners, presentations or weddings. With fantastic indoor and outdoor flow and views across Upper Hutt this is a wonderful venue with a difference.

This state-of-the-art, tiered theatre is ideal for performances, seminars and projection-based entertainment.

Our fully fitted out theatre allows for great flexibility to accommodate a wide variety of events including theatrical performances, seminars, presentations and much more. A warm, intimate space with good natural acoustics and easy to use facilities enables you to ensure the focus remains on the presentation.

Our theatre has the latest technology, air conditioning, comfortable seating and can be hired alone or in conjunction with other spaces. In addition the seating can be converted to accommodate 40 at tables. The theatre is situated on the upper level of the building and can be accessed via stairs or public elevator. The theatre has a full WiFi service available via Café Net for conferences.

Any booking in the theatre comes with an experienced technical production team.
