EPIC Innovation Christchurch

Welcome to BNZ EPIC - Christchurch Tech Hub

Epic Innovation Christchurch

Christchurch will have its own Silicon Valley via EPIC - the new home for tech entrepreneurs and like-minded businesses. The project is backed by Christchurch Business Recovery Trust and the likes of BNZ, NZTE, MSI and Christchurch City Council. The enterprise community opened in October 2012 and was launched by Steven Joyce, the minister for Economic Development and Science.
"The EPIC concept is based on the Silicon Valley model – where a building structure and use promotes innovation. Our building will be home to 17 hot start-ups and will stimulate the growth in the SME sector here in Christchurch," says McLellan.
BNZ championed the EPIC idea from the outset, and partnered with the on-the-ground entrepreneurs to transform the concept into reality. The bank applied a commercial lens and appropriate financial analysis to get this project off the ground. BNZ CEO Andrew Thorburn says, “BNZ's support for the EPIC campus is groundbreaking - this is an innovative and bold commitment to the high-tech, high intelligence business future of Christchurch."

EPIC is an excellent example of a public-private partnership where local government, businesses and the Government have worked together to get things done." The EPIC campus is on Manchester St, between Tuam and St Asaph Streets, Christchurch.
