The Longhouse sits proudly overlooking the magical Karitane beach and Otago coastline.
Located on the quiet coastal road we are just minutes from state Highway 1 and just 45kms or 30 mins drive north of Dunedin. 

We think of The Longhouse as the kind of home a friend would open to you. To us, hospitality is about creating a meaningful & authentic personal experience - so we created spaces throughout the house and garden for our guests to enjoy.

We offer a barefoot lux vibe -a seaside coastal atmosphere with a perfect mix of new and vintage, with authenticity and history at it’s heart…. Our visitor accomodation capacity is an intimate and convivial party of up to 12. The grounds offer stunning coastal views, an outdoor firepit, an outside spa pool, a natural amphitheatre perfect for weddings & events, capable of hosting up to 100 people and beach access.

While we curate our own retreat events from time to time, we also make this special place available to our community. We’ll work with you to get the result you want… so whether you’re celebrating a golden jubilee or planning a business off-site, hosting a workshop or planning a photo shoot - your event will go off without a hitch.

Looking for the ultimate wedding location? Dependent on your guest numbers there are a number of options you might like to consider.  For smaller events, use of the house might suit or for larger numbers a marquee on the front lawn overlooking the bay will provide a memorable back-drop to your special day or event.

A world away from city  life the Longhouse is the perfect excuse to escape to the country.  Enjoy our stunning sunrises, vivid seascapes with a glass of wine in hand and pursue our menu's based on seasonal and  locally sourced produce.
