Coworking

Everyone talks about the joys of co-working. Here are some things you should also be aware of if you’re considering joining this alternative workplace movement.

Make an effort to introduce yourself
It’s important in a workplace where many people are coming and going, to make more of an effort to introduce yourself. People move around, things change. So it’s important to make people feel welcomed.

Remember to wear deodorant
Like any other workplace, it’s important to be considerate to your fellow co-workers. Just because you didn’t have the get out of your pyjama pants while working from home, doesn’t mean the same should apply in a co-working environment.

Turn up the music (but not too loud!)
It can be really fun choosing a playlist for your co-work space. Music is a great talking point and will help with your workmate bonding. Just don’t turn up the Metallica to full blast until Friday arvo, eh?

Treat others like you would want to be treated
Always remember the first day you started at the office. Use that memory and apply it to any new person that joins. Think about making them feel welcome and maybe even have lunch with them. You never know, they could become your new business partner.

Don’t hog the internet
Okay, so you were meaning to download all 6 seasons of Babylon 5 but your monthly plan at home is completely maxed out. That doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to clog up the shared broadband connection by downloading at work.
