Imperial Lane

Imperial Lane

Auckland Turns it up a notch on Fort Lane

Imperial Lane

The other day we stumbled across one of the new hidden gems of central Auckland - The Imperial in Imperial Lane. Imperial Lane is a new development that runs off Fort Lane and connects it to Queen Street. You can enter either side, and be transported into this space that’s a like a mix of Melbourne and Manhattan. The Imperial Buildings development is a wonderful example of taking a building that’s steeped in heritage and history, and transforming it that’s modern and chic.

The Imperial is a late night cafe that transforms into a tapas/oyster bar in the evenings. The raw building mixed with chairs and tables placed along the lane is incredibly hip. You can’t help but feel like a sophisticated urbanite while watching people stream past.

Upstairs from The Imperial is Everybody’s, a bistro/bar inspired by Victorian and Art Deco aesthetics. Again, the overall ambiance here is incredibly cool, this is a great place to take overseas friends for a drink to impress them. With the recent developments of Britomart, North Wharf and Imperial Lane, we think Aucklanders really deserve a big pat on their own back. Keep up the good work guys!
